Also known as the ÔPink cityÕ due to the colour of the local stone used for its buildings, Toulouse is the capital of the Midi-PyrenZes region and is one of the largest and most vibrant cities in France. This is in no small part due to its high-tech aerospace industries which developed after WWII and in recent years has seen a huge increase in its population due the massive Airbus industry. Visit the Cite de l'Zspace with its many interactive and fascinating displays which will enthral children and adults of all ages. Galleries, museums and churches abound, many within walking distance of the city centre.
The historic Canal du Midi winds its way through Toulouse and you can choose whether to walk along its banks or take a leisurely cruise up the river. Restaurants and cafes are all easily found and you will be spoilt for choice with anything from tradition fare to the more cosmopolitan foods being on offer.
To avoid driving and parking in Toulouse why not take the train from Auch - an easy and exciting way to travel. Once there you can hire bicycles giving you easy access to all areas of the city.
